The Panthers hosted the D9-5A 2nd-place Eagles on Friday night, battling a week of distractions.
As prom night loomed for the seniors, Coach Collins and the guys remained focused on moving up the district
ladder. Allen brought their hard-throwing right-hander, while East countered with their district ace. In an
evening that included at least one unhappy Eagle dad, Mark Roberson pitched a gem to record his 5th win.
Roberson scattered 5 hits while inducing numerous ground balls and the Panther defense supported his effort.
He registered 2K and 2BB in the complete game victory – moving the good guys into a 2nd place tie as the
district’s 1st half ended. Nathan Snodgrass, Logan Reneau, and Connor Zmolik had RBIs for East. The two-win
week (say that 5 times fast) sends the Panthers into the 2nd round of games with renewed confidence. It’s off
to Lake Highlands on Tuesday before seeking revenge against the state-ranked Wolves on Friday night at the REAL
Ballpark in Plano. Go Panthers!
